type='text'>INTERESTING FEEDBACK ON THE 'CALL FOR PEACE'

no sooner had I invited people to join in this venture (see my previous blog, 'JOIN IN THE WHEEL OF LIGHT FOR PEACE!!!') than I was hit with this email ...

my reply follows :D

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

they say ...

Sure it's terrible that people think they must resort to this kind of action to get their point across.
But I ask you all what kind of society is it that breeds that neccessity - What forced these people to the point that they consider this the only way, or best way to carry their message. I doubt that it's a fun prank or the equivalent of a letter to the editor. Something powers these people and makes there attitude warp? What is it? Is there change needed that only such actions will wake the coccooned wealthy folk?

And again with intent. I see that someone is doing another directionless magick/power raising. Why haven't they done it about (for example) the road victims. Oh its lovely to burn candles and feel happy about ones' lot in the universe (and blithely, smuggly, go on with ones' life) but not about looking for real changes to behaviours and attitudes the makes road carnage / collateral violence social acceptable. I'll repeat the earlier number as a reminder: EVERY eight weeks the same sort of number of people die in vehicle accidents in LONDON. (Thats not the UK or Britain thats just London. doesn't include all the other cities in the world. one city every 8 weeks (56 days). every 8 weeks.)

And compare the amount of work, resources and feeling that gets generated. One bombing is more guards, new procedures and world wide press. The road deaths is business as normal. acceptable deaths.

... and my reply ...

so ... spell working is not creating real changes?
Interesting

I am a witch, not a politician, and this is how I go about my business.

As a celtic witch I do not benignly burn pretty candles and feel smug about doing 'fuzzy things' before I go on with my life. This IS my life and I live it every day - candles or not!

I would also like to say to you that I work many spells for many reasons. This is the first time I have invited others to join within this forum. Such a shame that is be-littled before it is even tried.

And if not this subject, which would make you feel better? We could of course pick any. And if you read the invitation it is actually very open - this has merely been the catalyst for group workings for 'world peace' ...

Metaphysically speaking, the idea is to create an energy that manifests and grows with more people having the same 'intent'. Therefore, this positive intent is released into the universe counter-acts the negative intent that is creating such unbalance in the world.

Who are we to say one person is right or wrong? We cannot, and must not go down that path - all we can work on is the challenge as a whole. If that includes burning candles to link the world and to connect energies, then so be it.
If you have any suggestions I would also be open to hear them.
However, I feel it would be a shame to sit and feel we can do nothing - I do not accept this as a truth.

Please be mindful of your words before going on the attack and be-littling others beliefs and actions my friend.

Please also be aware of the powers of the Universe and the powers of collective visualisation - do not make this a small and useless thing that peole are wishing to do. If it is not for you, then that is fine. But I am sure it will be for others.

You assume a great deal in your words, and I am sure you know who assumption is the mother of?

Love and Light to you my friend
(candles are optional)

Stace

I would be very interested to read other people's views on this, please feel free to add your comments :D

JOIN IN THE WHEEL OF LIGHT FOR PEACE!!!

Hello and Merry Meet ~

Due to events currently happening in our world, a group of us around the world have decided to stage a world-wide three day/cycle 'Wheel of Light for Peace'.
We ask that you join us and also pass this message on to as many people as you know that may be interested in helping out.

What it is:
Through focussing our energy through the lighting of candles en masse, throughout the world at a specific time - we send out the healing energies and prayers of 'Peace'. We have specified a certain time to light your candle and ask for you to let it burn for at least 30 minutes before extinguishing it, and then to light it the following evening at the same time and then the following evening after that at the same time. The Wheel of Light turns around the world, giving Peace a chance to manifest over 72 hours around the world.

What we ask is that you do the following:
*8PM, Tuesday 19 July 2005 (wherever you are) - Light your candle and say aloud: "Only Love Prevails" and add your own thoughts and prayers for peace.
*Leave your candle burning for at least 30 minutes and extinguish with the same words "Only Love Prevails"
*Envisage that you have passed on the flame to the next person about to light their candle.
*Light your candle at 8PM on Wednesday 20th and then again on Thursday 21st July in the same way for the final time.

The 'Wheel' shall commence in New Zealand, being 'first to see the sun' and shall end there to complete the Peace Wheel.

This is not a 'chain letter', we are not binding you to send this message on or to participate, but we are thankful if you are willing to be a part of this Wheel of Light.

Blessed Be,
Diamond Tiger

The Pagan Lantern

brought to you by:

I.D.entification Publications

'know who you are'

we got a new puppy!!

and I have FINALLY sussed how to add photo's

YAY!!!!

soooo ....

here is our gorgeous li'l boy - his name is Beau (or Bo, Bobo, Booboo; whichever takes our fancy at the time, hehe)
He is 10 weeks old and is a pure-bred British Bulldog. Me???

Now for those who do not know me, the mere thought of me contemplating a triathlon is more humerous than words can portray.

The fact that I actually did one at the weekend???
Unbelievable!

...and yet, it is true!

Amazing, unreal, mental, exhilarating, painful, challenging, insane, silly, and downright irresponsible are all words that come to mind.

Why would an otherwise happy, content, sit-at-home type of gal who much prefers to paint and drink wine with her girlfriends, and maybe go for the odd dance, decide to go all out and compete in one of the most demading of sports that exist today?

Because this year I turned 40!

... and quite frankly, that just makes it sound even MORE irresponsible, hehe

Well, perhaps, triathlon is not exactly true - more a mini event, but still!
A 300metre swim in a freezing lake at 8.00am, followed by a 10 kilometer bike ride up and down hills, and a 5 kilometer run around the blue lake of Rotorua (which is more a cross-country track that a running track) is hardly 'mini' in my book (maybe mini-mad, but definitely not mini!)

And furthermore, I was not alone in my madness! I was merely one of two thousand women who decided this would be a wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning!
Imagine, that; two thousand women motivated enough to get off their various sized bottoms and train for this event.
And various sizes they were, also various ages - in fact, all types of women were there; old, young, large, small, fit, average, health freaks, and post couch potato types. All competing in this great event held in Rotorua, New Zealand, and hosted by Kellogs Special K.

For all of us crazy enough to get involved, there was lots of training that went into it beforehand;
for me it involved meeting at 6.00am with my other mental buddies, Monique and Zoe, to run, walk, swim and/or cycle before work, and completing the everyday tasks of the various hectic lifestyles we all lead.
However,I must admit to not training for a whole month before the event due to an injury. I thought that the injury would keep me from competing, and was more upset by this than I would have imagined.
But with the event looming, I decided to throw caution to the wind and, as Nike promotes, 'just do it'.

And what a feeling to finish the event!
Running down the final stretch, with total strangers cheering and shouting your name.
Then, onto the red carpet, where you can see the flags flying and the cheers are deafening in their enthusiasm and encouragement!

Fantastic!

Definitely worth all the effort that we put into it.
The feeling was just so powerful, it bordered on emotional.
It seems Nike is right! (hehe)

and my finishing times?
swim - 15.06
cycle - 16.12
run - 51.43
TOTAL - 1 hour 23 minutes and 1 second!

So,
Thanks Monique for suggesting this madness in the first place.
Thanks Zoe for being so motivational in your own journey to fitness.
Thanks to my wonderful partner for all the support and belief in me, and fixing my bike up.
Thanks to my osteopath for working so dilligently on my injury and fixing me up.
Thanks to all my women friends who encouraged me with my madness.
And thanks to Kellogs Special K for thinking of this event in the first place.

That was the last event for this year, but Kellogs organise around 9 per year, from January through to April, at differnet sites around New Zealand.

If you are interested in finding out more for yourself, just click >HERE< to go to their site.

As for me ... Would I do it again?

You bet!

Gotta beat that personal time and keep gettin' better!
It's just more fun that the couch!!

so, until next time...

love and light

Stace

x

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://staceystewart.blogspot.com/2005/04/triathlon-me.html' title='A Triathlon? As a golden shower of light, they slowly
traveled through the huge and empty regions of
eternal space, searching for new, undiscovered worlds that they could play
upon and build their cities of ethereal light.

Dark, cold worlds which would be illuminated by their golden, omni radiance.
For millenniums, they searched for suitable planets, to make their own. A
mighty armada of golden beings, streaming forth in all directions. Until
finally, billions of cosmic beings settled upon hundreds of planets within
the limits of the Milky Way Galaxy, amongst them small planets within the
Orion, Sirian, Andromedan, Arcturan and Pleiadian Constellations.

Upon these distant planets, they created marvelously intricate, physical
forms for themselves and over countless eons of time, raised mighty
civilizations. There came a time, when those loving and advanced beings,
turned their sympathetic eyes to Earth, Mother Gaia.
They had long achieved universal peace and brotherhood and they wished to
share this loving gift, with others. Scout ships of pulsing, white light set
out for distant Earth.

They observed with compassionate hearts, the countless problems of Gaia - her
grievous pain, her bloody wars, her heartless famines, her lack of Oneness.
Many of these advanced beings, saw the fair daughters of man and fell in
love. Beautiful, semi- celestial children were born. But, still it was not
enough.

" We must give up our celestial home planets and incarnate to Gaia. To help
the humans raise their Light - we must become human! " They cried out with
one, unanimous voice. And so, in waves of many hundreds of thousands, these
brave volunteers, full of great
optimism, incarnated to Lemuria, Atlantis and Mu.

They lived many millenniums as humans, eventually almost forgetting, their
unique, extraterrestrial beginnings. For countless centuries, the Orions,
Sirians, Andromedans and Arcturans brought their
information, customs and traits to Gaia. The Andromedans, cloaked in
authority and respect, brought the gifts of justice and wise rule. The
Sirians, lively and orderly, brought mystery and activity. The Orions,
joyously kind, brought forth the gifts of happy, family life, abundance and
spontaneity. And the Arcturans who existed as angels in the open spaces,
brought spiritual sensitivity and unconditional love.

Now it is the time for the gentle, artistic Pleiadians to bring their gifts
to the people of Gaia. To steer Earth in a new direction of Love and Light.
To end the old reigns which mistakenly turned to power and fear, as a way of
solving the problems of Terrans. In the
latter quarter of the twentieth century, millions of Pleiadian volunteers
flocked to Earth, incarnating as human children, being raised in all their
cosmic power to become - "the Starseeds."

These sensitive and gentle beings, found the harsh vibration of Earth,
difficult to comprehend and bear. Like all new babies, as they were born, the
divine veil of amnesia, was placed upon their minds - they forgot that they
were from a more advanced and loving race with extra normal powers, they
believed that they were purely human, in a limited body and mind.

Yet, through their childhood and adolescence, they recognized that they were
different! They thought differently to others. Their interests were contrary
to those of their parents and friends. They created wonderfully, imaginative
worlds within their minds, where life was so much more noble, inspiring and
exciting. Still, they often felt very alone, confused and different.

They `saw through' the absurdities of third dimensional life,in the 20th
century. They didn't need things, to make their lives special. A new car, a
large house, the best job, power, fame, money - all these tools for life,
seemed unimportant and childish. Restrictions by
society, governments and laws, seemed overwhelming. Wars - senseless, and
disputes and arguments - immature. They knew deep within themselves, that
they were here for something special, something unique - they had incarnated
for a higher purpose!

Many sadly, never found that divine purpose and instead turned to drugs and
dangerous behaviour, as a way to deaden the harsh vibration of Earth.
Numerous young men and women, prematurely exited their confused lives,
returning once again to the higher realms, rather
than remain on Gaia, unawakened spiritually.

Others began to search for a higher meaning to life, exploring new and
ancient philosophies, meeting with wise men and women and slowly awakening
their dormant, psychic abilities. Often, they would have amazing insights
into others lives; predict the future through dreams and hunches; see ghosts
and feel the kundilini energy raise up in their bodies. They began to suspect
that they were not as limited, as they had formerly believed.

As they began to free themselves from the shackles of self doubt, they added
energy to the planetary consciousness and gradually all over the planet,
people everywhere, began to become more tolerant and
open minded towards the psychic and spiritual aspects of their lives.
New Age arts, skills and abilities began to flourish - they were no longer
the talents of a just a selected few.

The Star seeds readily picked up these new abilities. They could see auras
and feel chakras; spiritually heal and communicate with angels.
Some regularly astral travelled to distant planets and explored the depth of
Gaia's dark, green oceans and hidden valleys. They wanted to explore their
psyches, their thoughts, their inner worlds. They desired to communicate
worldwide with all the other Starseeds - they created the electronic Oneness
of the Internet.

Influenced by their Off World distant memories, they wrote gentle music and
created flowing, colourful artworks, to share with others. They turned their
backs on war and left these harsher lessons to their more primitive brothers
and sisters. They left the world of
commerce to their more active and earthy fellow beings. Starseeds learnt to
flow through life with little effort and meagre attachment to earthly goods
and riches. At night, in their lively sleep state, they travelled in loving
bands of fellow beings, to help stabilize the Earth and bring peace to places
of unrest. In their dreams they remembered their purpose for incarnating. On
awakening, they had only hazy memories of their Divine Mission.

For the Starseeds have come to Earth at this time, to bring great changes to
the planet's consciousness. Their special, peace loving, psychic and artistic
talents, en mass, will help to gently erase the
harsh negativity of earlier generations. By simply being here and spreading
their Starseed energy around them, they influence the thoughts and actions of
more earthy beings, to those of being more loving and harmonious with nature.
As they flow with life and show respect for all humanity, so others follow
unconsciously, their behaviour and attitudes.

As Starseeds give less value to fame and fortune and instead, look to
achieving spiritual growth, so their more earthy parents and friends, follow
their enlightened example.

In time, the Starseeds will become more consciously aware of their immense
mental and spiritual powers. They will become united as a spiritual force for
good. Merging their psychic energies as one huge ball of golden/white light,
they will be able to manifest fields of crops, that will feed the hungry;
devise energy sources that are non polluting; control the weather and
eliminate natural disasters; heal all illnesses; travel intergalactically;
contact spiritual and higher alien beings and raise the entire human
population of Earth, to a higher dimension of enlightenment.

This is the Starseeds reason for incarnating - to help humankind progress to
a higher level of being. It is time now, for the Starseeds to take up the
challenge! To remember why they have come to Earth at this time! To develop
their spiritual gifts and use them for
their own and other's enlightenment. The future awaits ...........

I AM A STAR SEED

There is a Divine God Source and I am part of it.
I am a spiritual being with a human body.
I am here on a special, Divine Mission.
I have unique, paranormal powers.
I accept the self responsibility to develop and use these powers wisely, for
myself and others.
I recognise that all beings on this planet are Angelic Beings, like myself.
We are all equal in Light.
By combining our spiritual powers, we can bring peace and harmony, to all on
the planet.
I have Divine help and guidance always on hand.
At the end of my Life Mission, I will return to my true spiritual home.

This piece was sent to me by a good friend and written by Robyn and Tony J. You can get to the site by clicking >here<

Here is some info about me ...

I am an ex-pat English woman lucky enough to be living in beautiful New Zealand (Aotearoa).
This country offers every landscape you could imagine, with a cornucopie of visual, aural, tactile, culinary and cultural differences to feed the artistic temperament.
Most of my work is oil on canvas, or photography.
What an extremely varied country this is, with much to offer the artistic temperament!

When painting, I mainly work in oils on large canvasses; I am also a photographer and am inspired by the natural beauty and colour that surrounds me in this amazing land.

I love the rich arts of the Maori people and their culture, and am especially intrigued by the connections of all indigenous peoples throughout the world.

Through my work, I explore the connections we all share, and celebrate life itself as the wonderous gift that it is.

Here are some things you will find in MY GALLERIES ...

Paintings and Pacifica -
is a collection of my recent works that are currently for sale. They change regularly and the style changes with my moods (both of which can be volatile and often!).

Living Images -
I adore photography, and it is my second medium of choice. Here I offer flora and scenery of New Zealand. My love of photography came from using photographs as my 'models' while painting.

Handmade Paper Products -
The paper is Hand Made in New Zealand, including authentic native flora wherever possible (nothing is ever used that is protected or that is taken from the earth that has not already been harvested).
All paper is acid free and of the highest standard.
I then work with collage, paint, dried flora and my photographic works to create original pieces for cards, bookmarks, etc.
These pieces make wonderful collections together, and many people have done just that - either using them as a 3-D art piece or framing them in a group.

Some Previous Works -
is a collection of previously sold works. I do take commissions but of course no two pieces are the same, and I would not like them to be. If you see something you like I will produce something similar. Thus ensuring you have an original piece.

'Smalls' Colelction -
was inspired by an exhibition I took part in at Christchurch Arts Centre. The topic was 'miniature' and had to be worked on tiny pieces. Therefore, I was a little stuck as I tend to like to work LARGE!!!
My partner suggested this idea when he was searching for undies one morning (smalls, you see??)
Very cute and lots of fun!!

Divine Elementals -
is a group of New Zealand artists that I am a proud member of. And hot it has been! This summer has reminded me of a fine piece of symphony, starting off slow and subdued before building gradually into a brilliant yet deafening finale!

It was very heartening to read the recent official visitor numbers released by Statistics New Zealand. In the year ended December 2004, there were 2.348 million visitor arrivals! Obviously New Zealand continues to grow as a popular holiday destination for overseas travellers with an increase in visitors from Australia, USA, United Kingdom, China and Japan.

Lions Tour Accommodation

From the influx of telephone calls and emails into the office regarding the 2005 Lions Tour I have only one question… “Where is everyone going to fit?!” The Christchurch accommodation providers I have spoken with are pretty much full to the brim however it is fantastic to see many Christchurch residents opening their private homes to help accommodate the swarm heading ‘down South’ in June. We have sourced a couple of upmarket private homes that are offering their lovely homes as Bed & Breakfast accommodation for the Christchurch tour. However these wonderful homes are only suitable for people in their 40’s or older, if this sounds like you simply drop an email to info@paradisegolf.co.nz for further information.

Christchurch Accommodation

The team at W F Management Ltd has taken an exiting new focus for 2005 and now their Website has been altered to meet the new style of city accommodation they provide for short, medium and long term stays. Have a look at the excellent range of apartment accommodation on offer at www.christchurch-accommodation.co.nz

Wild West Coast

With the impending Hokitika Wild Foods Festival it seems an appropriate time to release the new look and new style of a couple of our West Coast clients. The Guiding Company Ltd at www.nzguides.com offers an awesome selection of exciting Franz Josef glacier walks, heli hikes and ice climbing for most levels of fitness and ability. After all that glacier excitement you will need somewhere to rest the weary body… look no further than the closest accommodation to Franz Josef Glacier – Glacier Gateway Motor Lodge at www.franzjosefmotels.co.nz

Transportation

USave Rental Cars not only have sharp car rental prices; they now have a very sharp looking Website! Check out the smooth lines of their enhanced Website along with their competitively priced rental vehicles at www.rental-car.co.nz

Phew! HOW TO HAVE A WONDERFUL SPA DAY FOR A PITTANCE!!

A day of unadulterated pleasure was had by us yesterday in the beautiful summer sun in Hamilton.
For yesterday we decided to visit a spa - in the comfort of my home!

No huge prices to pay, no strangers needing to be 'small talked' to.
Quite simply, total and unadulterated hedonistic 'me time'!

The idea came because all 'us girls' wanted to go to Bali this year for a holiday, and to sample their amazing spa retreats.
However, due to one thing and another (life being as it is), we did not end up going (yet :D)
Sooo, I decided to bring a bit of Bali to us!

For a mere $50.00 per person I managed to put together this package:
Complete bath ritual, including:
Soothing bath with hand blended Cleopatra’s ‘Milk of the Nile’ bath milk
Soothing body lotions
Bag of luxury hand-made bathroom ‘goodies’ to take away
(these products were made by me)
Nourishing facials and skin care analysis
(supplied 'free of charge' by the local 'Nutrimetics' representative.
This amazing lady was scheduled to stay for two hours, and stayed the WHOLE day! Thank you so very much Winsome, what a wonderful lady you are!)
Bubbly and refreshments (non-alcoholic)
Lunch
(supplied by me)
Gallery of artisan’s works
(me again :D)
Ambience of like-minded women
Love
Light
Laughter
(the last 4 were supplied by all!)
PLUS!
'The Dance of Aphrodite' by Spiritual Dance Worker, Mary Hunt
(one of the most amazing and moving experiences I have ever had the honour of being present to witness!
Again, Mary and her co-dancer Hannah, volunteered their skills non-gratis!
Thank you both - how amazing it was to have Aphrodite join us in such a powerful and beautiful way).

Additional extra ‘pampers’ available on the day:
Massage
Healings
Angel card and tarot readings
(these 'extras' were supplied by qualified women and prices were discussed individually).

Available to purchase, order and/or admire:
Faerie wishing shawls
Hand-made cloaks
Original artworks
Original hand-made jewellery
(this created a wonderful atmosphere and there was no pressure - just beautiful things to admire and purchase if you wished).

The girls were all asked to bring robes to relax throughout the day - and then the rest unfurled quite naturally.

And here is the bath ritual that we all experienced:

For the Love of Self, and to realize the Beauty Within.

Timing: Waxing Moon (when the moon is growing to full)

Mood: Private time with no interruptions

Setting:	Bathroom

Light the candle.

Rub your whole body with the bath salts – imaging the salts
Of the sea purifying your body and linking you with
The great Aphrodite – be reminded that you are a
Daughter of Aphrodite – take pleasure in this
Knowledge.
Rinse with running water and rinse the bath out.
Put in plug and run both taps at a comfortable temperature.
Take the bath milk and sprinkle into the water.
Use a good large spoon or two.
As the milk dissolves in the water, make a wish from the
heart that this bath will make you realize
your beauty and make it manifest this day.

Sprinkle fresh rose petals onto the bath and know
The beauty of nature is with you also.

Call on the powers of Aphrodite to bless this bath and
your body. Love, cherish and respect your body,
relishing all its beautiful curves, and womanly beauty.

Fully immerse your body into the waters and soak in its
wonderful energies. Meditate on your beauty and feel
your beauty emerging from your inner self.

When you are ready to leave this bath, know that you
are a beautiful and desirable daughter of Aphrodite.

SO MOTE IT BE

So, thank you to all who were involved for a most wonderful day, your love and energies were much appreciated. My house had the best 'spa' of us all :D
After yesterday, you can count on there being many more similar events to follow.

Until next time ...

Love and Light

Stace

x

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://staceystewart.blogspot.com/2005/01/aphrodite-unleashed.html' title='Aphrodite Unleashed! Each night is a stand alone event, but if you play in four or more twilights you are eligible to win a weekend at Terrace Downs in New Zealand – the main series prize.

The tournament tees off from 3.00 pm and is played over 13 holes - you are more than welcome to complete the round. A light meal and a fantastic prize giving follow the golf. Everyone who is still in the bar at the time of prize giving will automatically go into a draw to win one night’s accommodation at the resort. There is a chance of winning no matter how well you play!

This year they are also running a bus service to and from the resort.

Feel free to contact us for more information.

Happy Golfing

Stacey

Awesome Astro Times Ahead

CHOOSING AN EVENT WORTHY OF THE ASPECT

This is an abridged letter sent to me by a good friend.
Awesome theory - one that is very close to my beliefs - if you are interested in astrology, magick, quantum physics, then read on ...

This information was taken from an astrologer and student of the esoteric aspects;

With the countdown to the grand quintile aspect now in progress, I feel
motivated to enter the forum with a few comments gleaned from my own study
of the esoteric aspects. My understanding is that quintile energy is
about transcending the limitations of the previous 4 dimensions, and learning to
create using the process of magical manifestation. We are being presented
with a perfect moment to test this possibility.

I think we can all concur that the moon is trigger for the formation, and it
opens a very short window of unusually tight-orbed near perfection.

My vote is for 11:11 am here in New Zealand on our 29th, or 10:11 pm on the
28th GMT. My reasoning for this choice was to find the midpoint between
Uranus and Saturn, 15 deg taurus 38, since that makes as many points as
exact as possible. In any case I would give it 15 minutes of clock time
(plus or minus) to make its greatest focus.

We are so fortunate here in the Auckland area to have this moment co-incide with jupiter zenith in our sky, and chiron a direct hit on the ascendant.

Now comes the fun part of the speculation:
If we use astrocartography techniques to "wrap" the aspect around the globe longitudinally, we get a map of where the event is most like to manifest, since manifesting is what this celestial pentagram is all about.

There will be 5 places of culmination at these longitudes,
176 deg e, 112 deg w, 40 deg w, 104 deg e and 32 deg e,
(which I hasten to point out is the meridian that passes thru the great pyramids in Egypt!) each zenithing a different planet.
Conversely there will also be 5 where the star will point down, so to speak and the 5 planets will nadir conjunct.
Depending on the latitudes along each MC or IC line, local refinements and
possibilites could be described by the planets which are angular for that
locale as the star tightens up.

Can we expect events of world impact at these points?
Or can we create a mind grid of aware souls and illuminated meditational force to foster an event of transformation?
What could be done with this kind of energy?
Disarm all the nuclear weapons stashed in armories?
Make "a day the earth stood still" and realign the economy?
Psychically reach into any satellites that have the potential to direct star wars and fritz them?
Or bring in assistance from other planes?
Who knows?

I say we get ourselves to our points of power:
towers turrets labyrinths temples and other sacred spots and see what emerges.
Lets vote with our psi power for a better, more peaceful, fairer place to live and start using our powers of manifestation to create heaven on earth!
This could be a false alarm but it'd still be a great time for a fire drill if we all want to practice for our transition thru the eye of the needle.

Lastly I add some speculative commentary for the interpretative astrologer
about the signifigance of the quintile aspect.
I think all the esoteric aspects; quntile, septile, novile and alephile are about seeking to initiate or participate in a process rather than precipitate an event.

The quintile's core or esoteric property seems to be about getting things, events and energy in the right order:
sequencing (or more exactly arranging them to be in the right relationship to one
another), and bringing the consciousness to bear on the task at hand.
An excellent analogy is the drawing of a pentagram to create a space to perform a magical process.
The star must be drawn in the right order, with just the right pigments.
The invocation must be incanted without hestitation or error at the right astrological moment.
But the operative element in all cases is the intent and consciouness of the invoker.
This aspect is the bridge between animism and metaphysics, where objects are recogized to have their own inherent energy, but only because it is recognized by sentience.

It is the process that animates the material and renders it maleable to
creative thought. Because this process is likely to be disruptive to the
fabric of the world we live in, the pentagram both protects the world the
mage steps out of, and protects the practitioner from outside interference
or effect.
In other words, it gives access to other worlds.
It creates a time or place aside wherein things can occur ignorant or defiant of the
laws of the 3 dimensional plane.
So the star both focuses the energy of the invoker, and protects them, but also puts that act aside from the mundane reality.

The 5 aspect comes after the 4th, shown by the square or grand cross aspect, through which things are accomplished by struggle and problem solving, toughing it out, building stamina, and working within time constraints.

Once we have cut the teeth of our will on solving these square created difficulties, we realize the next step is to find how easily matter(or situations) can be precipitated into or out of existence.

With quintiles the defining or limiting element is the consciouness of the
operant.
No longer is a process defined by its physical characteristics or time imperatives. What is possible no longer pivots on causal relationships but rather relative to the consciouness and concentration of the entitity(s) operating or co-creating the influences.
To do this we have to exercise an intentional use of the time dilation/constriction sphincter, which I can assure we all have on our motherboard, but by mutual agreement, deign not to use.

The possibility of playing our game as if time were negotiable would clearly be very disruptive to the material paradigm values to which we currently subscribe.
For a chunk of us to move to a mindspace where something like "the power of now" is the dominant reality would be very challenging for our whole race.
Within the pentagram, it doesn't matter how long something takes, it only matters that one masters the process, the output is neither here nor there.

And guess what?
the ultimate irony is
when we let go of attachment to the ends, all things become possible!

Ask any 4 year old what you do with a star:
make a wish upon it, of course.

My question is what could we all wish for?

But clearly there is good wishing weather ahead!

Many thanks for sending this to me Saiana ...

Love and light to all

Stacey

x

Exploring Karma

Understanding Karma - Towards an Ethical Way of Life

This piece was sent to me by a very good friend, I thought I would share it with you all here - many thanks Maria; much food for thought. The website is definitely worth a visit also ...

"Trickery succeeds sometimes, but it always commits suicide." (Kahlil Gibran)

The Dhammapada is one of the most sacred and best-loved of Buddhist texts. It points out the method of self-realization, by the way of moral conduct:

Like garlands woven from a heap of flowers,
Fashion from your life as many good deeds.

The text further enlightens on the nature of the karmic fruit:

For while the fool's mischief
Tastes sweet, sweet as honey,
But in the end it turns bitter.
And how bitterly he suffers!

Fresh milk takes time to sour.
So a fool's mischief
Takes time to catch up with him.
Like the embers of a fire
It smolders within him.

A fool is happy
Until his mischief turns against him.
And a good man may suffer
Until his goodness flowers.

But as dirt thrown against the wind,
Mischief is blown back in the face
Of the fool who wrongs the pure and harmless.

Nowhere!
Not in the sky,
Nor in the midst of the sea,
Nor deep in the mountains,
Can you hide from your own mischief.

Never speak harsh words
For they will rebound upon you.
Angry words hurt
And the hurt rebounds.

But the fool in his mischief forgets
And he lights the fire
Where in one day he must burn.

He who harms the harmless
Or hurts the innocent,
Ten times shall he fall
Into torment or infirmity,
Injury or disease or madness,
Persecution or fearful accusation,
Loss of family, loss of fortune.

Wilfully you have fed
Your own mischief.
Soon it will crush you
As the diamond crushes stone.

As iron is corroded by rust
Your own mischief will consume you.

If you kill, lie or steal,
Commit adultery or drink,
You dig up your own roots.

You are the source of all purity and impurity.

What you give to him
Will be given back to you,
And more.

For whatever you do, you do to yourself.

Finally there is what is known as the Golden Rule where Confucius argues that the central principle of ethics is not to do what you would not want to have done to yourself:

'Tzu-kung asked,
"Is there one word which may serve as a rule of practice for all one's life?"
The Master said,
"Is not reciprocity such a word? What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others."'

The Bible too guides us to right action:
"All things whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." (Matthew 7:12)

We are responsible for what we are; and whatever we wish ourselves to be we have the power to make ourselves. If what we are now has been the result of our own past actions, it certainly follows that whatever we wish to be in future can be produced by our present actions; so we have to know how to act. Why should we do good to the world? Apparently to help the world, but really to help ourselves.

According to the law of karma, the action one has done cannot be destroyed until it has borne its fruit; no power in nature can stop it from yielding its result. If I do an evil action, I must suffer from it. Similarly, if I do a good action, it is bound to bear good results. Can there be a higher motivation for an ethical existence on this planet?

Indeed, the law of karma is the best motivation we can have for right thinking, right action and right living. Karma however, is not god's code of punishment. It is not passive or defeatist. Rather, it puts men and women at the center of responsibility for all that they do and all that is done to them. Thus is it rightly
said:

Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.

Nature's dispensation is simple. Each of us has been given a field of life. We are free to sow whatever we want in this field, which is our karma-kshetra. In other words, we must eat the fruits of our own harvest. This is identical with the biblical idea that
"Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." (Galatians 6:7)

Many of us usually equate karma with evil and sin. This is probably because we become aware of karma only when we are hard-pressed with difficulties, taking for granted all good things in our lives. The fact however remains that:
"Men are not punished for their sins, but by them." (Elbert Hubbard)

Understanding karma is getting to know the knowledge of the secret of work. We see that the whole universe is working and is perpetually in a state of dynamic flux. Why? Because it is the only way in which we can justify our existence and residence on this earth, and go on actively creating and fashioning our lives.

According to Vivekananda: "The world is a grand moral gymnasium wherein we have all to take exercise so as to become stronger and stronger spiritually."

Put in the immortal words of Kahlil Gibran:
"You work that you may keep pace with the earth and the soul of the earth.

For to be idle is to become a stranger unto the seasons, and to step out of life's procession that marches in majesty and proud submission towards the infinite."

Nitin Kumar (Editor) Exotic India
www.exoticindia.com

Do Not Lose Heart

by Clarissa Pinkola-Estes, author of 'Women Who Run With the Wolves'

Do not lose heart. We were made for these times.

I've heard from so many recently who are deeply and properly bewildered,
concerned about the state of affairs in our world right now. Ours is a time
of almost daily astonishment and often righteous rage over the latest
degradations of what matters most to civilized, visionary people.

You are right in your assessments. The lustre and hubris some have aspired
to while endorsing acts so heinous against children, elders, everyday
people, the poor, the unguarded, the helpless, is breathtaking. Yet I urge
you, ask you, gentle you, to please not spend your spirit dry by bewailing
these difficult times. Especially do not lose hope. Most particularly
because, the fact is "we were made for these times". Yes. For years, we've
been learning, practicing, training and just waiting to meet on this exact
plain of engagement.

I grew up on the Great Lakes and recognize a seaworthy vessel when I see
one. Regarding awakened souls, there have never been more able crafts in
the waters than there are right now across the world. And they are fully
provisioned and able to signal one another as never before in the history of
humankind... Look out over the prow; there are millions of boats of
righteous souls on the waters with you. Even though your veneers may shiver
from every wave in this stormy roil, I assure you that the long timbers
composing your prow and rudder come from a greater forest. That
long-grained lumber is known to withstand storms, to hold together, to hold
its own, and to advance, regardless.

We've been in training for a dark time such as this, since the day we
assented to come to Earth. For many decades, worldwide, souls just like us
have been felled and left for dead in so many ways over and over brought
down by naïveté, by lack of love, by being ambushed and assaulted by various
cultural and personal shocks in the extreme. We have a history of being
gutted, and yet remember this especially, we have also, of necessity,
perfected the knack of resurrection. Over and over again we have been the
living proof that that which has been exiled, lost, or foundered can be
restored to life again.

In any dark time, there is a tendency to veer toward fainting over how much
is wrong or unmended in the world. Do not focus on that. There is a
tendency too to fall into being weakened by persevering with what's outside
our reach, what cannot yet be. Do not focus there.

That's spending the wind without raising the sails. We are needed, that is
all we can know. And though we meet resistance, we, more so, will meet great
souls who will hail us, love us and guide us, and we will know them when
they appear. Didn't you say you were a believer?

Didn't you say you pledged to listen to a voice greater? Didn't you ask for
grace? Don't you remember that to be in grace means to submit to the voice
greater?

Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of
stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach.

Any small, calm thing that one soul can do to help another soul, to assist
some portion of this poor suffering world, will help immensely. It is not
given to us to know which acts or by whom, will cause the critical mass to
tip toward an enduring good. What's needed for dramatic change is an
accumulation of acts, adding, adding to, adding more, continuing. We know
that it does not take "everyone on Earth" to bring justice and peace, but
only a small, determined group who will not give up during the first,
second, or hundredth gale.

One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a
stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Soul on deck shines like
gold in dark times. The light of the soul throws sparks, can send up
flares, builds signal fires, causes proper matters to catch fire. To
display the lantern of soul in shadowy times like these - to be fierce and
to show mercy toward others, both are acts of immense bravery and greatest
necessity. Struggling souls catch light from other souls who are fully lit
and willing to show it. If you would help to calm the tumult, this is one
of the strongest things you can do.

There will always be times when you feel discouraged. I too have felt
despair many times in my life, but I do not keep a chair for it; I will not
entertain it. It is not allowed to eat from my plate. The reason is this:
In my uttermost bones I know something, as do you. It is that there can be
no despair when you remember why you came to Earth, who you serve, and who
sent you here. The good words we say and the good deeds we do are not ours.
They're the words and deeds of the One who brought us here. In that spirit,
I hope you will write this on your wall:

When a great ship is in harbor and moored, it is safe, there can be no
doubt. But that is not what great ships are built for.

This comes with much love and prayer that you remember who you came from,
and why you came to this beautiful, needful Earth.

______________________________________________________________________

to see subscribe information for this ezine: please visit
Parallel YOUniversity
fraser@parallel-youniversity.com
www.parallel-youniversity.com
www.parallel-youniversity.com/fraser

Sea Priestess Energy and the Cloaked Ones

What a rare and wonderful thing it is to meet a person who is like-minded.
What a joy when you are invited to share with others of the same ilk.
How astounding to realise there are 22 of you invited.

22 like-minded women!
From all walks of life, and from all socio-economic groups. Race, Colour and creed were not important; Indeed the group was empowered by the very depth and variety of the members. All sharing, laughing, crying, creating, healing, and feeling; all in the name of hope and compassion on a universal scale.

This amazing weekend happened all because of two very good friends listening to the call of the Sea Priestess. Let me quote the invitation to the gathering ...

"The idea was born when a friend told me she wanted to spend her 50th birthday doing magickal stuff that she wanted, not celebrating with big non-aware gatherings of eating, drinking and 'hating it' affairs. So, one of the things that happened was that I made her a 'Sea Priestess' Cloak. She said she wanted the forbidden dark depths of the ocean, combined with silver moonlight and moody pools. She wanted stormy grey greens and inky black colours of the waters that brood in the night while we sleep, and that she didn't want to be seen. She didn't want it for show.

Over a period of about 3 months I went through the range of water colours from the lightest aqua daylight waters in Fiji to the very deepest of turquoise and indigo residing in the darkest underwater caves of the ocean, without quite touching black.
The Sea Priestess rode with me in this journey and conveyed much information ... some of which is about hope and compassion.

After amassing fabrics of many colours and textures I finally settled on just one for my friend. I became very mindful during that time that I have made many cloaks over the past two years and it became obvious that it wouldn't hurt to call on them all to come together with their wearers and see what might happen, as many of them are the colours of the sea.

A cloak is an interesting garment. Historically, it was an easy garment that kept one warm, covered, and clean. Cloaks have become garments of ritual and carry many meanings. The ones I make have become a clean slate which can be energetically charged with intent. The major intent seems to be down to 3 things:
Protection
Regeneration
Creativity
Anyway, they seem to have a need to get together and I suspect that we may end up with a very colourful deep sea of consciousness just waiting to work for humanity."
(Mary Hunt - Cloakmaker and Dance Energy Worker)

How blessed we are that these ladies followed their calling and listened to the Sea Priestess. From their vision was born a time of great healing for some, huge steps in the journeys of others, confirmation of beliefs and truths with empowering of talents and creativity.

Here is a small sample of some of the things this group has to offer:
Cloak Making
Faery Wishing Shawls
Book on how to let go '101 Ways of Letting Go'
Original Paintings in Acrylics and Oils
Unique Artworks of the Goddess
Energy Dancing
Spirit/Soul Singing
Hawaian Massage
Angel Energy and Angel Cards
Retreat Centre
Sculpture
Tarot
Rune Readings
Spellworking
Mentoring Programmes
Herbal Remedies
Paua Jewellery
Poetry
Colour Therapy
Colour Analysis
Spiritual Healing

If you would like to know more about the experience, or about any of the above, please feel free to contact me and I will point you in the right direction for the person who has the gift and the energies you require at the time.

Until next time

Love and Light

Stacey

Bay of Islands Review (Whale Rider Country!)

focus on

Bay of Islands

This beautiful area is New Zealand's finest maritime playground. Scuba diving, kayaking, swimming with dolphins and scenic cruises are among the host of year-round maritime activities. The cradle of European settlement, the region attracted the country's first whalers and missionaries. Paihia (Whale Rider Country) is the main resort and fishing centre, providing convenient access to the historic village of Russell across the harbour. Nearby is Waitangi, where New Zealand's founding political document, the Treaty of Waitangi, was signed in 1840. Kerikeri is famous for its arts and crafts and historic buildings, including the Stone Store and Kemp House. Tours are available to Cape Reinga and Ninety Mile Beach in the Far North, and across to the beautiful Hokianga Harbour on the Kauri Coast.

attractions include:

Bay of Islands Maritime Park
One of New Zealand's most beautiful areas, encompassing 144 islands and offering world-class fishing and diving, and a range of scenic cruises and wildlife tours.

Hole in the Rock
This impressive natural rock arch can be visited by boat from Paihia.
Enjoying beautiful views of the bay, the 506ha Waitangi Reserve is home to the Treaty House, where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed in 1840.There is also a Maori meeting house and a carved waka (war canoe).

Swimming with the Dolphins
Experience the thrill of swimming with bottle-nosed and common dolphins, which frequent the bay year-round.

Fishing
The NZ Big Game Fishing Nationals are held in the Bay of Islands during February, with catches including marlin, shark and kingfish.

Kerikeri Arts and Crafts Trail
A circuit of artisans in and around Kerikeri from potters to chocolate and wine makers.

Kemp House, Kerikeri
Once part of a missionary post, New Zealand's oldest European building was built between 1821-22.

The Stone Store, Kerikeri
Set in the scenic Kerikeri Basin, New Zealand's oldest European stone building houses a shop and small museum.

Kerikeri or Rainbow Falls
Surrounded by native bush, the 20km high Rainbow Falls can be reached via a short track from Waipapa Rd.

Haruru Falls
Just 4km west of Paihia, this spectacular cascade falls in a rare horseshoe shape.

Russell
Once known as the 'hellhole of the South Pacific', today Russell is a quaint fishing village and a base for deep sea fishing trips. Popular attractions include Christ's Church and Pompallier House.

Long Beach
Russell's sandy beach is a popular destination for fishing and swimming during the summer.

Christ's Church
Built in 1836, this is the country's oldest surviving church. Its facade shows sign of bullet holes dating from conflicts between local Maori and European settlers.

Pompallier House
New Zealand's oldest surviving Roman Catholic building.

Events
Bay of Islands Arts Festival
A summer celebration of music, dance, theatre and comedy held in March at various venues.

Bay of Islands Country Rock Festival
This annual festival in May draws the cream of country talent from New Zealand and abroad.

Jazz & Blues Festival
NZ and international artists play at various Bay of Islands venues during this weekend festival. Held in August.

Russell Oyster Festival
Entertainment and competitions celebrate the start of the pacific oyster harvest at Russell township in early September.

Lindauer Coastal Classic
An annual yacht race from Auckland to Russell, held every Labour Weekend (October).

For more information on any of the above, or for help with any enquiries regarding New Zealand,
visit Paradise Promotions website and ask anything you require - they will endeavour to help or point you in the right direction. It was the only New Zealand city to appear on the list of the world's top 100 cities.
The awards - dubbed the "Oscars of the Travel World" - are decided by readers who vote for their favourite destinations, accommodation and other travel activities. New Zealand took out third place in the best countries award and Air New Zealand won best airline.

Positively Wellington Tourism's Chief Executive Tim Cossar said the placing was a stunning success for Wellington. "To have such an endorsement from one of the world's leading travel publications is absolutely priceless and it is big praise from one of our most important international visitor markets."
Wellington Mayor Kerry Prendergast welcomed the award and said it was further evidence, if any were needed, that Wellington is the hottest city in New Zealand. "This is a fantastic achievement and something this city can be very proud of. It's incredible to think that just 15 years ago Wellington barely had a tourism industry. Now we are among the world's most desirable visitor destinations."
Tourism New Zealand Chief Executive George Hickton said the awards were particularly significant because they were voted on a magazine read by the sorts of visitors New Zealand is trying to attract.
"These are highly affluent, seasoned travellers. So to have them return home speaking so favourably about New Zealand and Wellington is a wonderful boost to our reputation offshore, and to the positive word of mouth that is growing about this destination."

To find out more about Wellington, and other HOT New Zealand destinations, visit Paradise Promotions website.

Even better, get in touch and they will help you wiht ALL your New Zealand questions and holiday enquiries!!

Until next time

Noho Ora Mai
(may I leave you in good health)

Stacey

Keeping it Reel

Official Press Release

published here by kind permission of Robyn Spence (Author)

The proliferation of television product in youth culture has resulted in a degree of visual literacy among youth, regardless of race, class and gender.
This fact, along with the increasing accessibility of digital video making hardware has liberated groups who have not previously experienced a media voice.
Community groups who are given the time and resources to represent themselves and their objectives have been the source of tremendous documentaries in recent years.
The videolive festival in the UK is just such an example.
In Hamilton (Kirikiriroa, Aotearoa) experienced media teachers and film makers will facilitate a workshop series to up skill candidates in order for them to successfully manipulate digital technology. The result will be a documentary that visually and audibly articulates their engagement in a journey of self-discovery.
Critical and creative engagement with kinaesthetic learners who excel by applied alternative education has proven to be hugely successful. The film-making medium is such that a multi layered and rich experience, ranging from creative storytelling to artistic representation, from individual skill to collaborative dynamics can be explored.

While the candidates explore the power of the camera by interviewing each other, they appreciate what it like to be in front of the camera as well as behind it. They become the subject of a visual document that records their progress and contributes to the educational pedagogy established by the social documentary genre.
A large group of committed facilitators and experienced film-makers have volunteered their time and resources for this exciting project.
"Keeping it Reel" breaks into action in September this year.
A group of excited youth are about to see their stories told in their voice, and we get to see exactly how they did it. You won't get to watch a more satisfying documentary or see a film crew so transformed.

For further enquiries
Contact: All-Psyched-Up Productions & Consultancy
production@psychedup.co.nz
027 2695059

Amazing Goddess inspired art from NZ

Hine Ahu One by Maree Mills and Anahera Kingi

An inspired exhibition utilising the very large talents of these two awesome New Zealand artists. No mean feat! This is a definite work that must be experienced first hand to fully appreciate the work - she has managed to hit almost every sense. Absolutely sight and sound, but also smell, touch, and the piece is so alive you can almost taste it!

Wonderful works by inspired (and inspiring) artists.

Here's another review that was sent through to maree from another at the exhibition opening ...

Hey Maree

just wanted to email you to say that your exhibition last nite blew
my mind.i really enjoyed your work, was a total trip on my sensory
perceptions, it transported me to beautiful place, as though I was
suspended and lost in a beautiful forest, with the yummy aroma of
life breathing around me the sounds all swirling round me
it was really effective

very very cool.i had a great time last nite
keep up your great art :)

have a lovely day

(name witheld)

So, there you go. I ask you, how many people are lucky enough to buy a house that used to be a bowling club???
The grounds are AMAZING!
The house is so cool and we stayed, had lunch, and a couple of glasses of wine.

stop three - off we went to watch my friends significant other play soccer (or football, depending on where you are from :D) - I must admit to discovering the English football lout lurking in the recesses of my psyche as I fought the desparate urge to yell things like 'are you blind ref?' and 'kick his head in!'
So, slightly disturbed off we went to ...

stop four - back to friends twins house for more wine, frivolity, hair curling and silliness :D

stop five - off to my house to actually get changed and fix our faces before our night out.

stop six - Off we sauntered (with my friend looking a million dollars in layers of amazing fabrics and gorgeous raven curls, and me in my new and wonderful outfit from the boutique :D) to a good friends photo exhibition opening and 40th birthday bash - yes, it seems the 40's are upon us with a vengeance, and many of our friends are now celebrating this milestone!

It was here that I purchased a wonderful new piece for my art collection. A photograph of Che Guvara (not sure of spelling here)posters that were adorning an outside wall in some South American town that my friend visited.
Very cool!
So cool in fact, that I was so enthused with this piece, the only thing I spoke about for most of the evening was this photograph and how it made me feel - so much so that (to my knowledge) three others bought prints of the same photo!
Yay for my friends amazing talent!

So, after much champagne, purchasing art, talking loads of rubbish to virtual strangers and friends alike, and trying my darndest to get a hula hoop going around my ample hips (yes, even at our tender age we still like to play like a bunch of kids :D) it was time to go home.

What a wonderful, eventful, and exhausting day! And I have come to the conclusion that if I can't be a good example I will just have to be a terrible warning! :D

Thanks to all involved, thanks to Tania (my stlightly mad and brilliant friend, Maree (her equally mad and brilliant sister), Andy (Tania's significant other), and thanks to Helen for a great evening.

Check out Helens website of amazing photography at www.helenjonesphotography.co.nz

Authentic New Zealand photography from an authentic New Zealand talent!

I just LOVE her work!

So, until next time ...

Noho Ora Mai
(May I leave you in good health)

Stace

New Media Show dates ...

Over the past 2 weeks I have been checking out the new pieces at the New Media Show. Margaret Orbell in her book 'The Natural World of the Maori' says that "Human breath was experienced as the counterpart of the breath of the world, which was felt to possess a kind of life."
The harnessing of the elements in order to carry messages or the rising of winds to augur a spiritual presence is a concept notable in many indigenous cultures.
In this work, a female deity is called forth by the elements, from progeny of the deceased, in order to assist the journey of the soul." (Maree Mills, 2004)

I found 'Hau', with it's connetations to the divine, and the subtle, yet highly seducive placement of the video footage, mesmerising and intriguing. I feel this installation pulls you into the very chasm of creation and enables the viewer a tantalizing glipse of the circle of life.

The second was Margi Moore (teacher at the Waikato Institute of Technology).
Her film 'Rory 2004'
Abby plays The Sims for 45 minutes (Video 22 minute loop)
"This video work is deliberately antithetical to most video games. Unlike the games, is quiet, repeptitive, lacking in colour and has little or no activity. Sound is excluded, offering little clue as to what is occuring. This is the face of video games that parents rarely see, as we are normally removed from the activity. The game is an occupier of time, a tool for entertainment, or at worst, a babysitter.

As the author of this work, I too am absent. I set up the camera and left the scene so my presence did not impact on the experience. Rory is the identity Abby gives herself as a character in the games. As a viewer you are invited to contemplate her face and the subtle responses Abby has to the game she is playing." (Margi Moore, 2004)

My reaction to 'Rory April 2004' was that I found it both fascinating and disturbing; Fascinating because you cannot seem to take your eyes away from the obviously rapped attention on this girls face. Disturbing because it is not YOU the girls is fascinated with, but something you cannot SEE; in the fact that you watch the face of a young woman who shows absolutely no cultural or social recognition of another being present throughout the whole video. It is almost as if you are within the computer and a tiny part of her game without her recognition at all. A strong message to us all and perhaps a glimpse of the very near future?

Both pieces are wonderfully and terribly powerful. A great sinergy of different world views and messages, joining forces to bring to us the power and talent of these amazing women.

Strong talent, bold statements, amazing creative energies!

If you are anywhere in Hamilton I definitely recommend a visit:
New Media Show
10-14 August 2004 (Maree and Margi)
Platform 01
Victoria Street
Hamilton
New Zealand

New Media Arts; New Zealand Style!

"Magic is all about making you think that you saw something happen in a particular way, design is about making you think in a particular way, the two can be intrinsically linked, and there you have it, me as a person, a creative deciever." (Dave Gardener, 2004)

Last night I attended the opening of a new media arts exhibition - the first installation was by Dave Gardener and is entitled 'Trigger 870'. Which studies the close relationship between a lock and lock picker, the work is interactive in the way that the movement of the viewer is translated via a web cam into a resulting projected narrative, that is constructed from 870 paragraphs from a lock picking reference manual. The smoother the movement, the more logical the narrative. (D.G, 2004)

Needless to say; I was fascinated with the concept. Unfortunately, the opening was very successful, and of course there were a lot of bodies making a lot of movements in a small area. Thus, we had the web cam 'strobing' through the instructions like a thing posessed! The design of the piece begs for stillness, contemplation, and patience. Three things we definitely need to work on in the 21st century!

I msut admit to being quite tempted to go back when nobody is around, and taking advantage of the invitation to 'be still, you might learn something!' I am also quite keen to try my lock picking abilities on the chest that is placed in the centre of the room. Pandoras box indeed!

Conceptual art at it's best - in little old Hamilton! Nice one Dave.

Imbolc in New Zealand

It's at times like these that I realise just how lucky I am to be living in this wonderful country!

In New Zealand it is Winter, but yesterday was the most amazingly beautiful day; the kind of day you cannot help but think is a gift from the Goddess (and/or God). Wonderfully clear skies, sunny weather, no wind. Absolutely stunning!

Today is Imbolc; also known as Candlemass, Brigids day, and (I am informed) the Chinese New Year. On top of all that it was a full moon last night; the ice moon, or wishing moon!
Lots to celebrate! Lots to do!

Imbolc - the very middle of Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox - the emerging light celebration. The Spring is on the way - Winter has had it's last and is slowly leaving. The animals are birthing; the milk is in!
This is a celebration of newness! New beginnings, new starts. The Greek Maiden Goddess, Persephone, has returned from the underworld, and brings the promise of Spring with her.

It is a time to rejoice!!

So, we all gathered at our good friends house for fellowship, fun, frivolity, and a good old feeding up of each others ego's (which seem to get so depleted by the 'real world' we have to live in).

We sang, made Goddess sculptures, jumped on the trampoline, enjoyed a guided meditation, ate, drank, sang some more, laughed and cried. All in celebration of our wonderful planet and of US!

How empowering it is to meet with like-minded people and to have the ability to share in the gifts that surround us all. I feel so blessed that I have these amazing people in my life and we all share these precious times together.

The greatest message that Imbolc has to offer, I believe is this:
When times seem the darkest, remember the light is not far away.
Everything is circular; there IS no linear pattern!
All of life works and moves in a cycle.
When you are in a dark place, you will emerge into the light.
You learn and grow stronger from this experience, and when you are next in a dark place the lessons you learned from your last visit will make you stronger again, thus allowing you to emerge even greater the second time,
and so on.

Therefore, take courage; for the light always follows the darkness. Be thankful for the darkness; it is your teacher and heralds the light that will surely follow.

Brightest blessings until next time

Ka Kite Ano
(see you again :D)

Stacey

Urban Legends and other Mind Games

I have recently been forwarded quite a few 'urban legends'; you know the things, people found with their kidney removed in the bath, perfume samples that are ether, etc.

Now the logical side of me likes to think that they truly are just that ... legends. But then somewhere in the recesses of my mind; some primal dark spot that likes to whisper when your not quite listening, starts to insist ...
'what if they're not?
How do we truly know??'
And an even more scary thought is ...
'what if some bright spark reads the legend, and gets ideas????'

It can all become rather daunting to be honest - and I feel that this is where the power of the mind can truly help us; call me kooky if you wish, but I truly believe that what you think about, what you insist on pouring your mental (or psychic) energy into, will eventually become real. Will 'manifest' itself if you will, into something tangible and in this reality.

Basically, you get what you ask for!

I remember being a silly sixteen year old. Ten foot tall and bullet proof, walking down the streets of Salford in Manchester, England, at two in the morning. I also remember the look of sheer disbelief on the faces of the young blokes huddled on a corner on this particulary bad neighbourhood (one where you would definitely NOT want a sixteen year old girl walking alone); especially when I said 'hello' in my sing song happy voice. Quite hilarious when I think back!
I remember being so full of self confidence; so sure of my safety and of the world being a GOOD place, that I have wondered on many occasions if that, in itself, is the reason I walked, unharmed, though this neighbourhood where drugs, prostitution, and gang warfare was the norm.
I believe this is a gift that should be enhanced, should be encouraged and allowed to grow within our culture, and especially within our youth.

I strongly believe that if you are worried about the things that CAN harm you, it gives those things power, feeds them if you will. If you constantly worry about becoming a statistic, you run the risk of actually becoming one.

So, instead of worrying about ether on perfume samples, or checking for previously unkown scars around the lower back area, or even worrying about walking to the corner shop for some milk, maybe we should work more on the positives we wish for. Knowing that it is only a matter of time before they come to us. The trick is not to ask in a whimsical fashion (I wish I had more money, love, power, happiness, etc), but to be THANKFUL for the things that you have, even if they are not manifested at this moment in time.

I believe the things we pour our energies into are the things we eventually end up with.
This self fulfilling prophecy is so simple, and yet so powerful, we usually ignore this basic law. And yet within this law lies our own personal freedom.
Why do we ignore it?
I believe it is due to layers of 'filters' being put in front of our eyes over the years. Our culture, families, upbringing, contact with the outside world. How we 'see' things. The whole shabang!!!
The key is to recognise the filters for what they are, remove them, and move on. This is a constant process, as we are subject to filters on an everyday basis, so ...

It will only takes a lifetime :D

Of course, the anceint words of folklore that have, in themselves, ended up wrapped within legends, ring true here ...

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR, YOU MIGHT JUST GET IT!

until next time

Ka Kite Ano (see you again :D)

hard getting started for us 'techno phobes'

It's quite interesting that this is the third blog account I have set up and the only one I can still find!

I am a tad concerned where the other blog accounts have gone to ... is there a blog cemetry? Am a blog murderer???!!!

Ah well. I'm over it! I never was one for a long stretch of guilt. I am soldiering on trying to catch up (and not even keeping up) with technology - it is such a standing joke in my family that I have long been known as 'techno-phobic!' Slightly ironic as I am mad on techno music but technically illiterate! I just dance OK?

Quite exciting all this though isn't it? To think someone out there in massive cyber-space may one day be so bored they stumble on the sad ramblings of a technically challenged dance freak who loves New Zealand and is into tourism and life enhancing workshops!
